My name is lerning2maksins cause I am graphic design pupil at a college and I need help/learning with history's engrish. Most importantly is history of mayan glyph from mexico (south america, lower). Like ancient mayan stone glyhs that say aztec badly, like, "Cave to store corn is not open" instead to aztecs it say "Corn cave is not welcome." See? Right!

Wikipedia does not include such history, do you know?

1.) The first picture is correct - nothing much Engrish, but it's weird - since it implies that one can spit here but it must be quiet! A literal translation from the Malay sentence will be "When spitting, don't be very loud, thank you".

Sorry for the bad photo, I'll try to get a better one later... this is the label of a bottle of suntanning lotion I saw in Busan, South Korea. "A rane Hend" is obviously a misreading of "a rare blend" and "VROWN SKIN" is a typical Korean confusion of V and B.

Here's something for your thinking cap, if you know Chinese.

There is a phrase that sounds roughly like this (my best attempt at phonetics):

"EEE-BOO EEE-BOO-DEE, HOOY-DAO (or perhaps TSAO?) MOO-DEE".

Supposedly it means "Step by step, to the appointed goal" or "Step by step, you can reach (your) goal" and I have no idea which dialect it is either.

To a Russian speaker, this phrase sounds fairly comical when spoken...

I've heard that there are more English speaking people in China, than there are in all of the English speaking countries of the world, combined.

So, if that is true, I find the following question to be somewhat scary and disturbing...

If there are more people in the world that spell the word "smoking" as "smorking", for example, would that not make "smorking" the proper spelling of the work "smoking"?
