I read a wonderful rant at Guardian Unlimited called "I hate macs" by Charlie Booker. He has valid complaints. It's not just his complaints, but his skill at spewing them. For example:
(in reaction to the UK version of "I'm a Mac" "...and I'm a PC" commercials) PCs are a bit rubbish yet ultimately lovable, whereas Macs are just smug, preening tossers... I hate Macs. I have always hated Macs. I hate people who use Macs. I even hate people who don't use Macs but sometimes wish they did. Macs are glorified Fisher-Price activity centres for adults; computers for scaredy cats too nervous to learn how proper computers work; computers for people who earnestly believe in feng shui.
That wasn't the phrase that got me. He lost me when he declared that...
Doctor Who, incidentally, would definitely use a PC. PCs have charm; Macs ooze pretension
How does one presume to know the mind of a fictional character? I'm always impressed when anyone proclaims to know others well enough to be able to state authoritatively "what they are thinking," but a fictional character? BTW, the rant's subsequent comments are equally amusing.
