There are two approaches: one is with money, as in your case. Then there's the poverty angle, which is mine. Apples and oranges, man.
For me, absolute freedom and near-ulimited time created the opportunity to do anything, which I don't, and explore unfettered creativity, which I do. I see you painting, watercolors-mind you, goats. You know, you got your easel and your Grumbacher paints and your smock and that board thingie. Heheh, not really. Okay, get a decent Meade or Celestron telescope and start looking for comets. Yeah. I built an observatory once, in NC. Maksutkov optics and whatnot. Look for the Gegenshein, baby. And count stars in the Plieades, tell Scout troops the lore, the adventure, the drama that is... ASTRONOMY! Or get fat, drink a lot, no wait, you don't drink. Get fat, baby! Okay, seriously. Ever think of starting a gunsmithing? Isn't there a calling for people who know obscure crap about weapons? I got this collection of Russian Martial Arts videos... there must be some White Supremecists nearby willing to pay for weapons training. Gimme something to work with here. You got your goats, your road-building skills, your goat-mountain skills, your Chinese-Kupakai wife thing goin' on there, your successful offspring... you should be a frikkin' teacher. How far is the nearest Community College? I bet you'd make a great anything teacher, as most of the cool ones had loads of stories... And yet, I hesitate to say anything, as I am a firm believer in becoming yourself. Artism, man, artism. And nobody knows who you are, that's for you to decide. ![]() |

The disobedient cats sound like they'd make amusing target practice for those well-oiled guns. But, I know, I know, he neighbors.
The solution is not artism, but LONGBOW MANUFACTURE. The Longbow: Silent, deadly, and really, really big. It gave Henry V the Battle of Agincourt, and it will intimidate the heck out of your putty tats. For a delightful introduction, I suggest the classic work on the subject by longbow enthusiast Robert Hardy (the lovable "Sigfried Farnon" in TV's All Creatures Great and Small--I'm not making this up. www.amazon.com/exec/obido...ce&s=books Apparently Mr. Hardy has written another book on the subject as well: www.amazon.com/exec/obido...ce&s=books Good luck, enjoy, and never say Keno. |

WGnat. Cats not so disobedient as finicky about immersion. Maybe they think a trick of baptism. Cats not a Christian sort. Can never shoot cat. Possum, yes. But not cat. Long bow sounds interest. Most here are compound bow for extended hunting season. I am not hunting in 20 years. Except I do the varmint shoot...rats, etc. You got goat feed, you got rats.
coffeebot. Many artist in family of me. They are crafts and paintings of gallery quality. Gene miss me. Only I do woodworking decently...all in right tools and patience. I am easy to get fat, taking little effort. I am high efficiency of mpg for food. Most goes to storage. I am plenty rainy day energy. Famine resistant, though I may get cranky. Gunsmithing is art form. I lack gene of art. Minor dabble but limit to minor dabble. Cost to much to unfack a mistake. And I am many Mercedes kind high end firearms. Harry does not travesty own guns. Humidity was light today. Harry dug up an old stump of a 14" privet bush. (Why they call a bush if 14"?) Also landscape with dirt excavated from 5'X5'X5' hole. There are plenty large craters on Harry's 4 acres for nostalgia. Maybe I am new tiresome hobby of inane posts. |

I rather respect some of the observations here! Coffee has exposed his sensitive, perspicacious underbelly yet again, and WG's books look pretty interesting. 'Course, you might want to pass up the computer game thought, unless you're aiming for the "get fat" goal.
My dad was always tediously predictable if he ever caught me complaining of boredom: "Go help somebody who needs it!" Well, yeah, actually he was right. Some organised volunteer things suck and aren't necessarily helpful (often promoting dependency), but there's always SOMEthing that somebody could use ('nuff "some"s?). Many coordinators would drool over your skills, but, to be honest, one usually takes away more than one gives. |

Occupate myserf for leisured taime?
Ah, I just can't remember so much.... 1. Messing around with computer settings. Messing also with games like Baldur's Gate. I mangled the gameplay so seriously. In the game, there was one time I 'control' a person sitting on a chair havin' beer (of course a magic spell). I expect him to stand up and walk and do whatever I want. Unfortunately, the code for the poor victim is 'drink up' and 'put down' beer. His 'walk' function is 'drink up-drink down'. So when I forced him to walk he stuck on the chair and slammin' his beer mug up and down.... I did the same mangling in Half-Life: I turned on cheat option, add these Barneys (if you play the game) in the crossfire (a half-life multiplayer map) until filled up the field. Climb up. Get cannon. Explode. Computer hangs then.... 2. Disassembling stuff. I disassembled fairly lotsa stuff. Especially old stuff. 3. Reading novels on bed. Much leisure time. 4. Drawing. Only when I'm very bored. 5. Sleeping, and napping. Siesta. That's the way if I'm uber bored.... Heh heh... [Good Days, Good Times]

I suppose I am a but cavalier about cats. It's Stenty's influence on me. But don't forget the Flashman doctrine: Carry a big enough longbow, and you'll never have to shoot anything.
Also check out the Hardy book if you get a chance. It has a cult following among folks who make medieval weapons. He's also an excellent and neglected actor. Besides the vet show, he played Winston Churchill in The Wilderness Years, Pompey Bum in Measure for Measure, and occasionally turns up as mad scientist or something in really cheesy British horror films. |

The Doctor recommends frequent naps on the back porch in a rocking chair with plenty of warm oatmeal within reach. Or if you are inclined to activity, make it the front porch and shake your fist at passing cars telling them to slow down.

How about eating junk food whilst watching TV? Or reading trashy $3 books from the newsagent or doing puzzles? I do all these things when I am bored.

Since leisuring myself from employment I am catching up on lifetime sleep debt with 8-9 hours a night. The waking hours of me are no longer yawn and fatigue and compensate so much of coffee. I am 4 cups in morning only now.
Also I am stump removal without enthusiasm. Many post Ivan/Dennis/Katrina stumps. Just I figure out to dig 16" hole about 2 1/2' around stump and chainsaw below ground level and back-fill with dirt. Also I have brush pile the size of 2 dump-trucks in need of conflagration. I go to range with friends and shoot M14, Russian 91/30, Yugo SKS and German K98 Mauser battle rifles and SIG 226 .357Sig, CZ52 7.62x25mm, and S&W 342Ti .38SPCL handguns. We are all share and get shooting of others the AK-47, SU-16B, .45ACP. Harry fired about 300 rounds. There new project that is become the task tonight...when feed cats the saucer of milk there is 'possum in big Burford Holly tree next to deck. jmcc may remember Big Opossum Campaign wherein Harry decimated thieving marsupials who terrorize cats and steal the food of them. I am planning ambush with Stevens Crackshot .22 rifle and SuperColibre Stealth bullets of doom (slow and quiet .22 that does not disturb neighbors). When wife lets out Ninja suit I am ambuscade. This time I am hearing protection at the ready. Tomorrow John Deere Tractor* is ready from 2 weeks in shop and I am cut the grass. *(It is riding lawnmower, but it permissibles to call it "Tractor" because of green color) |

I am many years possum under back porch of me. We are live and let's living with me relationship. Times I am home late the night our paths do crossing, in the polite way, "Hello, Ms./Mr. Possum. How is an evening?" "Very well, thanking, and your?"
Then a comes year when I'm no longer do a see my marsupial neighbor. I'm not a stink, so it is fine. I'm think, OK, no more wild beast for jmcc.
