Many fans think Tolkien's elves have pointed ears. He wrote a note somewhere saying that hobbit ears were leaf-shaped (whatever that means), and some take that as proof that elves and hobbits had pointy ears. They are probably correct. On the other hand, if Elves and Men could not be distinguished by physical appearance, that would indicate that their ears aren't especially different. I think an ear could be both leaf-shaped and still within the normal variations people can have, but I personally like the idea that they don't have pointed ears.

I thought the movie ears were ok. But not like I've imagined elvish ears to be. I think these are perfect elvish ears:
www.mobygames.com/images/...765-00.jpg I hate huge ears on elves, they should be only slightly pointed and graceful. Perhaps like Spock's ears. (PS. Arcanum: best CRPG ever. ![]() |

Useless Kind of Crap Forum has a different behavior on my browser. Unlike the others, after I view a thread and go Back to the list of threads, it is some cached version and I have to click Reload. Why is UKC forum such a problem?

The third option | ||
|
Coffiebot wrote: I have both pc and mac and I find that mac users are elitist fanatics and pc users are tasteless low-brows. I need a third option. And no,
non-use is not an option. Here is the third option - multi part reply: Option 1: Run Windows on a Mac. Buy an expensive MAC and cowpleatly replace OS-X with
some version of windows, or even DOS. If you decide to install DOS, make sure you get the eight core Mac Pro with 4 TB of disk space (raid 5) and 64MB of RAM.
As DOS can only use 2GB of disk and 1MB of RAM this will give you the least amount of cowputer for the most amount of money. Option 2: Get the least expensive
Wintel 4 Core system and install OS-X on it. You violate the license agreement, but if you purchased your copy of OS-X I doubt you violate the law. Option 3:
Get whatever hardware you like and install Linux Option 4: Get whatever hardware you like and install Sun Solaris, Or even better yet get a Sun SPARC with
Solaris already installed. Option 5: If you have a large space and lots of AC and even more money get a real computer - like a System V390 or CRAY. Option 6:
Get whatever hardware you like (with much memory and disk space) and install VMware (or parallels if running Mac) and install OS-X, Windows (whatever flavor or
flavors you like), DOS, linux, and solaris. Why choose? Run them all! My Macbook Pro with 4GB RAM and 300GB HD works just fine running 6 OSes. (OK I usually
don't run more then three at the same time) Option 7: Use some funky weird OS like OS2 Warp, Open VMS, or Plan 9 from ATT Option 8: Write your own OS.
Option 9: For the truly insane: Build your own computer hardware. I don't mean just slap boards together. I mean start with chips and discrete cowponents
and wirewrap your own hardware! Then write your own OS. You see weedhopper, er coffiebot, life is not just one and zero.

In my opinions - PC or MAC will do fine for everyone. I don't mind about the preferences.
