Hi. There are certain topics of conversation on the boards that get said over and over again - esp. by newbies. We love newbies here on the boards, but before you enlighten us on certain topics, I thought that I would list here what has already been discussed so that you don't waste your time:
1. Coca-Cola's initial transliteration of their name into Chinese produced a rendering whose meaning was "bite the wax tadpole." Snopes Article here
2. The 'Come Alive With Pepsi!' slogan was interpreted in China as 'Pepsi Brings Your Ancestors Back From the Dead.' Snopes article here.
3. The Chevrolet Nova sold poorly in Spanish-speaking countries because its name translates as "doesn't go" in Spanish. Snopes article here.
4. What is your favorite Engrish? Here is the thread for favorite Engrish.
5. I couldn't find "All Your Base are Belong to us...". Here is the latest thread regarding "All Your Base..."
